Meet Kate Owner and Sole Baker @ Kate's Bakes

From a young age I can remember cooking and baking like it was second nature. I always found ways to make something special for friends and family, whether it was their birthday or just because I wanted to make something. My dad eats desserts before breakfast, after lunch, and often times has a little extra something after dinner. It should come as no surprise that he’d recruit me, with little effort of course, to make magic cookie bars, peanut butter cookies, coffee cakes, and anything else his sweet tooth heart desired. School functions would happen and I’d be the first to volunteer to make something. When my grandmother would come into town i’d make her favorite Black Forest Cake, and when I would spend summers in Missouri visiting grandparents, my other grandmother and I would spend our days making biscuits and gravy and homemade peanut butter fudge. Baking has always been a type of therapy for me, and serving people what I made was my favorite part! After I had my first daughter I would insist on making her birthday cakes and from there things snowballed. I started Kate’s Bakes in 2019 offering weekly boxes ranging from different types of cookies, breakfast breads, brownies, scones, and much more. After a brief break to pursue a career that wasn’t meant for me, I jumped right back into Kate’s Bakes and have been working to maintain it’s initial success ever since. I have a firm philosophy in baking that if someone else can do it, so can I!

I married my husband, Matt, back in 2012 after we started dating in 2008! We have three beautiful daughters together. I am also a big dog person and believe that no home is complete without them, so we have two chihuahua’s named Oliver and Izzy and a chocolate lab named Coco.
